This Wednesday, January 29, is the first new moon of 2025 in the forward-thinking sign of Aquarius. New moons offer the chance to realign with our intentions and manifest new beginnings. While this Wednesday’s new moon is opening new doors, we are still navigating the lingering energy of Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus retrogrades.
Retrogrades often pull us backward, bringing unresolved issues to the surface. It can also feel like trying to walk forward while not having all the answers and energy to support us. This is why I’ve been expecting January and February to feel slow and not favorable to make significant progress on goals or new visions you may have set out during the new year.
That said, notable shifts are on the horizon. The day after the new moon, Uranus–the ruling planet of Aquarius–stations direct. Uranus is the planet of change and innovation, and while it’s been retrograde since September 1, 2024, it’s been encouraging us to reflect on how we respond to change. With Uranus moving direct, momentum will begin to build, and decisions or changes you’ve been contemplating could finally take shape.
It’s important not to stay closed off or rigid during this time. Instead, give yourself permission to explore new opportunities and approaches. Channel your mental energy into practical solutions, and try to avoid falling into cycles of overthinking or anxious thoughts. You can make the most of this new moon by staying open and flexible.
While we may still need to sort through some lingering challenges, new pathways are beginning to emerge this week. Stay open to these shifts, as fresh inspiration and opportunities are coming.
